M6 Junctions 2 to 4 Smart Motorway

Highways England is improving the M6 between Junction 2 at Coventry and Junction 4 near Coleshill by upgrading it to a smart motorway. The scheme will provide greater traffic capacity, and more reliable journey times by improving the flow of traffic, for this section of the M6.

In January 2016 Highways England appointed the BBV joint venture (Taylor Woodrow, VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Balfour Beatty) to work alongside the designers to develop the construction methodology / programme and to ensure that the design delivers efficiencies and minimises disruption to customers during construction. Following the completion of the detailed design, construction is envisaged to take place from Summer 2017 to Spring 2019.
