Lights, camera, action for my AFK Our View VINCI Foundation project

My AFK were awarded a VINCI UK Foundation grant in 2021 and the team is already making good progress with their Our View project, supported by Taylor Woodrows EcoPark South team.

The aim is to produce a collection of short films made by young people with special educational needs and disabilities on their experiences, challenges and successes in preparing for and gaining
employment.

The project has been a great collaboration between staff and trainees so-far - from identifying the films that will be of most value; to learning the concept of creating a visual storyboard for refining content and messaging; to getting to grips with recording equipment and building confidence both behind and in front of the camera.

Footage has been captured for films on travel training and work experience and the team has been using both music and training on the art of filming to create the right emotions for audiences viewing the films.

Lyn Prodger, Corporate Partnership Manager for my AFK said: This project underpins all of the work we do to support people into the workplace.

Participants are genuinely having a lot of fun as well as real autonomy over what they view as important to highlight and demonstrate to other young people with learning disabilities.

We look forward to completing the third film which is themed around entering work and bringing these valuable tools into use.
