Opened in December 2015, this scheme improves access between the two towns, opening up north Bexhill for development, boosting the local economy, promoting regeneration whilst reducing traffic congestion and pollution in the towns. A key to project success was mitigating the effect of the scheme’s construction, whilst enhancing the environment along the scheme corridor. Critical to this was the early and continued consultation with stakeholders such as Natural England, Environment Agency, Planning Authority, local residents, businesses and landowners. This earned the project a Green Apple Award and shortlisted for ICE and CIHT awards for Urbanisation and Sustainability respectively |
